Summa-time!

Summer is here with its wonderfully hot and humid weather.  Glorious sunshine, green grass, creek time, pool time, kayakin, swimmin, fishin, new lil’ creatures, garden planting and harvesting and laziness..

Dan was a bike cop for Rivers and Spires festival..hehe.  So, Jasmine and I took Wiley and Abby for awhile on Saturday.  Wiley loved the choo choo and the slides!  After blowups we went to catch a glimpse of Little Big Town before we left. Dan was working security at the backstage.

Memorial Day - creek style.

The BEST place in Tennessee is at Yella (not yellow) creek down on Daddy and Mamas farm.  The rock beach makes the perfect place for a redneck beach..  Creek stompin, fishin, swimmin, kayakin, rock rollin, raftin and the best..?  Bucket jumpin!  The lazy mans way of cliff jumpin!  I was finally brave enough to take my camera across the creek on a raft in the water proof case to get some better pictures of bucket jumpin’ this year.  Welllllll worth the risk!  Ill let the pictures speak for themselves.  SO.MUCH.FUN.

Bip was by far the most cooperative, so..she has more shots than anyone else!
DSC_1693
Wee little Wiley wanted to ride in the bucket but thought the rest of us were crazy for actually jumpin, so he just rode along..this time..

Even the old folks jumped, not without plugging their nose though.  ;]

And just because I thought our setup was bright and cheerful I snapped this guy in between action shots.
I hope everyone had a wonderful, long weekend and that we were all able to remember the purpose behind Memorial Day.  Thankful for our fallen men and women and for their ultimate sacrifice.

Bird sanctuary and best snow cone ever.

Not even a mile from our beach house there was a bird sanctuary.  It was a small joint but had quite a few birds.  It was ‘free’ admission with donations welcome.  Mostly ran by volunteers and donations, they rescue and take in sick or wounded birds of Florida.  The sanctuary was direct beach front and you could enter from the street or the beach.  I didn’t know that before we went or we would have walked on the beach and entered from there, mama and daddy did later in the week.  I would go again!  It was a lil’ smelly though, but to be able to see close up of these lil guys…the stench was worth it!  :)
DSC_1070
They had a lot of their birds in pens but a lot of the birds that they had already released just hung around and walked the paths.
DSC_1091
Ugly ol’ bird.  And he was not pleased with me taking his picture..
DSC_1064
They had a ton of these guys living there.  At first I thought there was something wrong with their beaks.

Baby pelican…ooglay!
I would go back to this beach just to have a snoball.  My word, best shaved ice I have ever had!  They sharpen their blades daily and the ice is extra fine and smooth!  They have tons of flavors and you can put it in any combination you want.  You can even add cream to the mixture or put ice cream on the bottom!  We only found it a couple days before we left or I would have needed one every day.

I ate every bit of it.
DSC_1103
Gator bite (How appropriate!) – tangerine and blue raspberry!  And leave it to Kyle to get plain ol’ cherry..but still good!
DSC_1140
They poke holes so the flavor gets in there good.  They even put gummy worms or bears on top at your request!  Peña Colada, tangerine and passion fruit.
Best shaved ice ever, Snoballs.
