5 dolla, holla!

I got this table at The Salvation Army Thrift Store for $5.

It didnt start out like this it looked more like this:

Solid wood with some cute lil detailing but overall - ugly.

So, I took my gray reject paint from Walmart that was discounted to $4 and some 87 cent black acrylic paint to it.

First I took the handle off the drawer and filled in the holes with some wood filler and sanded it down so I could add a knob. I lightly sanded all over with my orbital sander. Painted on two coats of latex gray, let dry overnight. I dry-brushed the black on the next morning. I went back and lightly sanded some spots with a sanding block.

Im sorta haphazard with my painting. And sanding.

I also took some very berry Walmart special! and painted the inside of the drawer and added a half off knob from Hobby Lobby.

Way better than what it started out with! Right? Right!

Blessings.

During the holidays I am always reminded of all my blessings. I pray I never take them for granted. Speaking of blessings. I feel so blessed to be building our home. It seems like there were alot of bumps, and more to come I am sure. There has been ALOT of progress lately!

From the front.

I bet there arent many new construction signs that have smileys.. :)

Isnt he cutie? :)

This is standing sorta to the side of the living room looking at the back of the house. I love the wall of windows! This is the living on the left, open to the kitchen nook on the right.

Entry way - looking from the living room to the front door. Looking at dining to the left in the picture, to the right as you walk in and the basement stairs.

Martin visiting, standing in the road that the workers/trucks have left dirty..

View from the back.

Standing in the corner of the living room - looking at the kitchen/nook, dining room as well as the 1/2 bath and catwalk up top!

Standing at the front door looking at the stairs and catwalk with living room in the background.

Look at those teef!

Its hard to look at in pictures..Im just trying to document the process.

So thankful for the opportunity to build with my best friend. :)

Fish!

Lately, Ive been finding some great items at Goodwill! I picked this chair up at one of the Nashville stores for $9.99! A little fish fabric from JoAnns and some Krylon spraypaint in Ivyleaf and it looks like a brand new chair! It used to look like the picture below..the fabric made it even worse...yuck.

Added a little distressing...

And a cute little puppy (before it was finished!)

LOVE its quirkiness!

Snowman!

I have seen things similar to this out there on the web and decided I needed to throw my own twist on it and make one! I have had the stuff to make the lil' guy for some time but couldnt bring myself to let go of the warm weather, but it seems I no longer have that choice!

I used a large traditional fishbowl, regular size fishbowl and a mini fishbowl - all found at Goodwill within a couple weeks of searching. The houses and santa/snowman figurine and hat also came from The Will. The Snow was picked up at Fred's and the trees are from Dollar tree (2 per pack!)

No tutorial needed. Wash the bowls and begin throwin junk in em'! Pretty cheap and SIMPLE!

AND! This little guy was very interested in what I was doin'! Love me some Wiley! :)

The Cape

A week in Cape San Blas, is halfway underway.

Mama and I were gonna go to the beach during my fall break and it ended up with Daddy wanting to join and Kyle being able to come too!

Kyle and I (and the puppies!) left on Friday afternoon and stopped in Dothan, AL - leaving a 2.5 hour drive to the ocean the next day.

Not to mention, Dothan had the largest, nicest, cleanest TJMAXX I have ever seen! ;]

The beachfront home is lovely, the ocean is wonderful, the weather has been perfect and I even caught my first fish from the shoreline! He was a WOPPER! I have only been on chartered boats previous to this, which is kinda-sorta like cheating..

I love The Cape and I believe that I dont ever need to travel anywhere else. I have been to alot of beaches but THIS is by far my favorite! Clear water, pup friendly, blue skies and 10 people on the beach is a crowd here. LOVE IT. I will be back, hopefully sooner than later.

Closing!

We closed on our construction loan and the lot today!

I finally feel like we are getting there, it still doesnt seem exactly real yet.

Maybe after we actually start movin some dirt!

Only because of Jesus and His wonderful blessings is this able to happen.

That is what I want to keep in the forefront of my mind through the duration of this project.

Lets get it rollin, kids!

:D

Since the last time.

Since the last time I was here...

I have started my new job, quit my old one, gone to ATL to my first MLB game - with preferential seating! While in ATL we also went to Stone Mountain, The Aquarium and stopped along the way in Chattanooga to visit the kinkajous at the zoo! Chattanooga always reminds me of fall the first year Kyle and I were married. We spent a few days there just hanging out over my fall break. :)

Speaking of Kyle..

Have I mentioned how thankful I am for him lately?

So grateful that Jesus sent me Kyle. He knew just what I needed. He is definitely my soul mate. Loves me unconditionally, waits on me hand and foot, makes sure that I have everything I need - and more!, puts no pressure on me, supports me. I could go on.

I cant imagine living a day without him. :)

Anyhow! House update!

We hope to break ground by the end of this month, beginning of next! Who knew it took this long to get a loan secured.. I LOVE dealing with banks.... :\

Cant wait to make a house into a home with Kylie. :)

Restricitons.

Just got a copy of the restricitons for the lot and the square footage limit was a bit off, which can easily be fixed.

However, the jury is still out on whether or not 'livestock' is allowed.

I mean, we arent gonna be running a dairy farm on 5 acres but I do want Henry, Ivy and Oliver to join us at the new place.

Hopin it all works out. :)

I accepted a new position today. Its where I went to school for the majority of my life and I am very excited! It also pushed summer back a weekish!

Plans.

Well, plans are always changin.

Including house plans.

We have our first draft, but several things have been penciled in and crossed out.

Im keeping my fingers crossed that we can start next month.

Big, big decisions ahead on the homefront, literally. ;]

And also a big job decision for me...

I know that no matter where Im workin at, what my house ends up lookin like, or what I end up doing with my life career wise...as long as I am serving Jesus and following after him everything will fall into place.

A to the men! :)
